Story of Padmavati Parshwanath Bhagwan

In the village of Naroda, located in Ahmedabad, there is a small, 33-centimeter-tall white idol of Bhagwan Padmavati Parshvanath, also known as Godiji Parshvanath. The idol is in a seated Padmasana posture, with a remarkable feature of a seven-hooded umbrella over its head.

Historically, it is believed that Naroda was the ancient Nishadh city to the east of Ahmedabad, possibly associated with King Nal. The impressive temple with a peak was constructed by Shet Shri Harisingh Kesarisingh, and the idol was discovered buried underground. This captivating idol is well-known in Ahmedabad, drawing crowds of pilgrims on the first day of every month and on Purnima (full moon day) of each month. The idol is revered by Goddess Padmavathi and is also referred to as Naroda Parshvanath but is more commonly known as Godiji Parshvanath. Additionally, there is an ancient idol of Goddess Padmavati at this site, known for its influence and miraculous nature.

In the vicinity, four more temples have been recently constructed. Although the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath in this temple is small, it is exceptionally beautiful and enchanting. Nearby ruins suggest the presence of an ancient and splendid temple. The miraculous idol of Goddess Padmavati is believed to fulfill the wishes of devoted worshippers. During special occasions, people offer silk garments with painted designs, known as Chundadi, to Goddess Padmavati. The temple walls are adorned with paintings depicting various sacred places.

The temple is situated in the heart of Naroda village, about 8 kilometers from Ahmedabad, and approximately 1.5 kilometers from Naroda railway station. Various transportation options, including buses, taxis, and other vehicles, are available for easy access. Additionally, there is an upashraya (meditation hall) on the premises, and facilities for accommodation and meals (Dharamshala and Bhojanshala) are also provided for visitors.
