Story of Pragatprabhavi Parshwanath Bhagwan

In the ancient city of Darbhavati, later known as Dabhoi in the Vadodara district of Gujarat, the divine presence of Bhagwan Pragat Prabhavi Parshwanath graces a sacred Tirth. With a nearly 83 cm high, light yellowish-colored idol in the Ardh Padmasana posture, this revered deity has a rich historical backdrop.

Established during the reign of Sidhraj Jaisingh, Darbhavati flourished, and its fort was renovated by King Virdhavall's Minister Tejpal, who constructed various temples, including one dedicated to Shri Chandra Prabhu Swami in Dabhoi. The city's historical significance further unfolds in the 13th century of the Vikram era when the accomplished sculptor Hiradhar built the intricately carved fort known as "Hira Bhagol."

A key figure associated with Darbhavati is Acharya Shri Munichandrasuriji, born in the city, and Mahopadhyay Shri Yashovijayji Maharaj Sahib, who attained enlightenment here in V.S. 1743. The unique idol of Bhagwan Adinath is enshrined in the basement of the Jaitilak Prasad temple. Notably, the city is the birthplace of Acharya Shri Munichandrasuriji, and Mahopadhyay Shri Yashovijayji Maharaj Sahib attained spiritual enlightenment here in V.S. 1743.

The focal point of the narrative is the exceptional idol of Bhagwan Pragat Prabhavi Parshvanath, discovered on the banks of the river Orsangh in the village of Sankheda Badarpur near Dabhoi. This remarkable idol, envisioned in a dhobi's dream, was brought to Dabhoi and installed in the new temple of Bhagwan Adinath in V.S. 2007, under the guidance of Acharya Shri Jambusurishvarji, a native of Dabhoi. This ancient, influential, and smiling idol is renowned for its immediate positive impact on devotees.

Often referred to as "Darbhavati Parshwanath," this idol is housed in the sole temple dedicated to Pragat Prabhavi Parshwanath in Dabhoi. The city boasts a total of seven beautiful, ancient, and influential temples, including the temple of Lodhan Parshwanath. Additionally, a Samadhi Mandir commemorates Shri Yashovijayji Maharaj Sahib's presence in Dabhoi.

For pilgrims and seekers of spiritual solace, Dabhoi offers connectivity through the railway station, situated 32 km from Vadodara. The city is well-connected by rail and road to various Gujarat cities. The ancient Gyan Bhandaar, housing numerous scriptures and books, serves as a beacon of knowledge. Facilities like Dharamshala and Bhojanshala cater to the needs of visitors.

The custodian of this revered Tirth is the Seth Rikhabchand Kalyanchand ki Pedhi, located in Pandiyaseri, Shrimali Vaga, Post: Dabhoi, District: Vadodara – 391 110, Gujarat, India, reachable at 02663 – 254814. The Tirth stands as a testimony to the rich history and spiritual heritage of Darbhavati, now known as Dabhoi.
