Story of Amrutjara Parshwanath Bhagwan

In the heart of Bhanwad, nestled in the Jamnagar district of Saurashtra, stands the revered shrine of Sri Amrutjar Parshwanathji, the sole and primary deity. Situated a mere two kilometers from Bhanwad, this sacred site boasts two splendid Jinalayas. The magnificent Shri Amrutjar Parshwanathji Shikharabandi Jinalaya and the ancient Jinalaya of Sri Shantinath Prabhu in the market are both marvels of divine architecture.

Bhanwad, historically referred to as 'Bhanuvad Gram' in ancient texts, was once a flourishing city. The current name, Gham, echoes its ancient glory. The pristine white idol of Shree Amrutjar Parshwanathji, in a Padmasana posture, stands unadorned, measuring 18 inches in height and 14 inches in width. The credit for constructing this magnificent Jinalaya goes to Champasi, a revered individual in the community.

On the auspicious day of Phagan Sud Beej in Vikram Samvat 1622, Shri Amrutjar Parshwanathji was consecrated in this Nutan Jinalaya by Shah Dharshi Rajshi, under the divine blessings of Acharya Bhagwant Shri Jinrajsurishwarji Maharaj. At this sacred ceremony, 80 Jinbimbas were venerated. The shrine received the patronage of Acharya Bhagwant Shri Jivarajsurishwarji Maharaj, who eloquently praised Shri Amrutjara Parshwanathji.

The ethereal and divine image of Shri Amrutjar Parshwanathji has witnessed the fulfillment of countless devotees' desires through worship. In Sanskrit, this revered Parshvanatha is known as 'Amritshravi Parshvanatha.' The shrine underwent renovation in Vikram Samvat 1951, ensuring its continued spiritual sanctity. Pujya Muni Bhagwanto has immortalized the praises of Shri Amrutjar Parshwanathji in ancient compositions, resonating the enduring devotion and significance of this sacred abode.
