Story of Songthiya Parshwanath Bhagwan

In the serene city of Narlai, nestled at the foot of the Jekhal hills, stands an ancient temple housing a captivating white-colored idol of Bhagwan Sogatiya Parshwanath, seated gracefully in the Padmasana posture beneath an umbrella adorned with five hoods.

Delving into the historical fabric, this once-thriving city bore names like Naradpuri, Nandkulvati, and Naddulai Vallabhpur in ancient times. Established by the revered sage Narada, the city boasts surrounding hills that hold a rich legacy. Pradyumna Kumar, son of Shri Krishna, contributed to this legacy by constructing a magnificent temple on the nearby hills, dedicated to the influential idol of Bhagwan Neminath. This city's antiquity is evident through the hills named Shatrunjay (housing the temple of Adinath Bhagwan) and Girnar (home to the temple of Neminath Bhagwan). The Sogatiya Parshwanath temple, believed to date back to the 10th century of the Vikram era, holds an idol said to have emerged from the ground during the reign of King Samprati. The city has been sanctified by the revered footsteps of Acharyas such as Shri Premsurishvarji, Shri Ramchandrasurishvarji, Shri Kailashsagarsurishvarji, and Shri Bhuvanbhanusurishvarji. Festivities grace the city during the Karthik Purnima and Chaitri Purnima.

Apart from the Sogatiya Parshwanath temple, the vicinity hosts seven temples at the foot of the Jekhal hills, two in the city, and two on the Shatrunjay and Girnar hills. The ancient temple is adorned with captivating works of art and sculpture, presenting an alluring and divine idol in an atmosphere of serene natural beauty.

For pilgrims and travelers, the temple is conveniently located 25 kms from Rani station and 40 kms from Falna station. The ancient Tirth of Nadol is in proximity, with Dhanerao 13 kms away and Muchala Mahaveer 16 kms distant. Transportation options include bus services and private vehicles, with the provision of Dharamshala and Bhojanshala facilities.

This sacred site finds mention in revered scriptures such as "Tirtmala," "Chaitya Paripati," "Shri Sankheswar Parshwanath Chand," "Tirthyatra Stavan," and "135 Naamgarbhit Shri Parshwanath Stavan."
