Eight Tirthankar Chandraprabhu Swami

Our eight tirthankar is Chandraprabhu Swami, in his past life he was king Padma of Mangalavati town of Dhatkikhand. Spending a lifetime as a god in Anuttar Vijay dimension he descended into the womb of queen Lakshmana, wife of king Mahasen of Chandranana region. During queen's pregnancy, one day the she was looking at the splendors and glowing full-moon. All of a sudden she desire to drink the glowing streak of moon light. The king somehow with his intelligence managed to fulfil this strange desire of a pregnant mother. On the thirteenth day of the dark half of the month of Paush(according to Jainism) the queen gave birth to a healthy son who was fair and glowing like the moon, so the king named his son as Chandraprabh which means glow of the moon.

As time passed Chandraprabhu grew up and he never show affection towards the luxury which his kingdom was providing him. So after many years, he decided to take diksha on thirteenth day of the dark half of the month of Paush(according to Jain Calender) along with 1000 other men's. He attained many spiritual and religious activites.After 3 months of diksha, Lord Chandraprabhu attained (kevalgyan ) salvation on 7th day of the dark half of the month of Phalgun(according to Jain Calender). And on the 7th day of the dark half of the month of Bhadrapad(according to Jain calender), Bhagwan Chandraprabhu , along with other 1000 saints was liberated and attained nirvana on the mountain of Sammet Shikhar. Chandraprabhu's emblem is crescent moon.
