COLOR – Arihant is symbolised by the colour white. Arihant is a perfect human being. White color represents Arihant. The white color is the mother of all colors; it is a blending of all colors. It represents pure knowledge. White shows purity, selflessness, and cosmic consciousness. White has protective power against psychic attack. This power should not be used for personal gain. White light removes the diseases from body, mind, and soul. White blood cells protect the body from disease. It controls the energy center at the top of the head (Sahasar Chakra)
NAME – “Ari” means Enemy and “Hant” means destroyer of enemies.
VIRTUE – PAD – Arihant is the Supreme power of nature and is the purest soul in the Universe with a physical body. Arihant is one, though living in the world with a physical body lives in equilibrium.
Arihant are also calles Veetragi – devoid of (rag) passions; one who has conquered the inner enemies such as Raga (Craving or attachment) and Dvesha (Hatred) Kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), moha (illusion), mada (pride) and matsarya (envy) thus is free from worldly attachments.
Arihant are also called as “Teerthankara” as they are they one who establishes the ‘Teertha’ or the Chaturvidha Sangha-the fourfold Jain Sangh namely- Sadhu (monks) Sadhwi (nuns) Shravaka (householders, menThey are also called Arhat meaning “worthy of worship”. They have attained perfect knowledge (KevalJnän), perfect perception (KevalDarshan) and perfect conduct (Keval Charitra) and infinite energy (Ananta Virya) and they are totally detached (viträgi) and Shravika (householders, women)
Arihantas offer us spiritual guidance during their lifetime and expounds the path of purification, Moksha. In order to show our special reverence for their teachings, we bow to them first, hence the first line of the Namokär Mahä Mantra states “Namo Arihantänam”, thus also their central position in the Navpad Chakra Arihant has 12 supreme attributes.
