Sadhu (monk) is a spiritual practitioner. The practitioner must be protected from worldly attachments and must destroy negativity. Black color represents monk. Black is the absence of all color. It is receptive, consumes negativity, and gives the strength to fight negativity. It controls the sensual energy center (Muladhar Chakra) of the body.
NAME – Sadhu is a Pali word which means good, virtuous or auspicious.
VIRTUE – PAD – Those who progressing on the path of salvation. He is characterised as one who is a follower of Arihant and lives under the guidance of Acharya and Upadhaya.
Sädhu (Jain monk) or Sädhvi (Jain nun) is who practices 5 mahävratas (great vows), 5 samitis (carefulness) and 3 Guptis (restraints); has taken Dikshä (initiation) per either Digambar or Svetämbar tradition. Who practices Samatä (equanimity; treats the favorable and non-favorable situations indifferently.), follows and preaches the major path of liberation expounded by our Tirthankars, emphasizes on the self-efforts and self-initiatives, and who firmly believes in and practices the anekäntväd, and has given up pleasures of five senses, has no worldly attachments like assets, family, bank balance, house, car and similar things and has won over internal enemies like anger, ego, deceit and greed. Their only goal is to attain “Mokshä” and they keep pursuing and progressing on the path shown by the Vitrag according to their abilities.
