Ek muhurta means one unit of time used in Jain (and broader Indian) time system. It is equal to 48 minutes. A day is divided into 30 muhūrtas, starting from sunrise. So 30 muhūrtas × 48 minutes = about 24 hours. This timing is used to determine auspicious moments for rituals, meditation, and other spiritual practices. Brahma-muhurta (roughly 1.5 hours before sunrise) is a particularly favored period for sadhana in many Jain traditions. There isn’t a major difference between Digambar and Śvetāmbara on this basic unit; both traditions recognize muhūrtas and their use in daily and ritual timings.
