108 in munis name
In Jain practice, the prefix “Muni Shri 108” (or Acharya Shri 108, etc.) is an honorific title, not a fixed rank or a universal list. The number 108 is used to show high respect and seniority for respected monks (munis) and teachers, and you’ll see many well-known monks with this 108 prefix in Digambar and Śvetāmbar lineages. It does not point to a specific “108 Munis” roster; different communities may apply it to different respected seniors.
Examples you may see:
- Muni Shri 108 Amarkirti Ji Maharaj
- Acharya Shri 108 Vidyanandi Ji Maharaj
