8 types of karma are biforcated into 2 groups which are these groups
They are divided into two groups:
- Ghatiya karmas (destructive to the soul)
- Aghatiya karmas (non-destructive to the soul)
Ghatiya karmas (destructive) 1) Jnanavarniya — obstructs right knowledge 2) Darshanavarniya — obstructs right perception 3) Antaraya — obstructs energy/effort (blocks spiritual progress) 4) Mohaniya — deludes the mind (attachment/aversion)
Aghatiya karmas (non-destructive) 5) Vedaniya — produces feelings of pleasure/pain 6) Nama — determines the body/form and attributes 7) Gotra — determines social/status aspects 8) Ayushya — determines lifespan
These groupings and names are standard in Jain karma theory and are accepted by both Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions, with minor variant explanations in different sub-schools. You can read more here and here
