    Jain mantra for business

    10 months ago 155

In Jainism, there is no special mantra guaranteed to bring wealth or business gains. The most important practice for all situations, including work, is purification of intention through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct. The Navkar (Namokar) Mantra is the central daily prayer for all Jains, and its purpose is spiritual upliftment rather than worldly profit.

Original text (Prakrit) common to both Digambar and Śvetāmbara traditions:

    • णमो अरिहंताणं
    • णमो सिद्धाणं
    • णमो आयरियाणं
    • णमो उवज्झायाणं
    • णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं
    • Eso pañca namokkāro
    • savva pāvappaṇāsano
    • mangalāṇam ca savvesiṃ
    • padhamam havai mangalam

    Arth (meaning) in simple terms:

    • I bow to the Arihants (omniscient beings).
    • I bow to the Siddhas (liberated souls).
    • I bow to the Āchāryas (spiritual leaders).
    • I bow to the Upādhyāyas (teachers).
    • I bow to all Sādhu and Sādhuvī (monks and nuns).
    • This fivefold salutation cleanses past sins and is the foremost of all auspicious things. Its aim is spiritual purification, not material gain. Minor pronunciation differences may exist between Digambar and Śvetāmbara traditions, but the meaning stays the same.

    Additional guidance:

    • If you seek practical strength for business life, focus on ethical conduct (ahimsa, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, non-attachment), along with regular Navkar jap. The inner steadiness and right intention that come from such practice support honest, sustainable livelihood.
    • Some sources mention Padmavati for protection and removing obstacles; these mantras are typically used for protection and spiritual progress, not for seeking wealth. They are not a substitute for ethical business practices.

You can read more about the Navkar Mantra and its meaning here and here .

If you’d like the exact Navkar text in a specific tradition (Digambar or Śvetāmbara) with transliteration and step-by-step practice, I can share it.
