why shantinath in palitana
In Palitana, Shantinath is one of the many Tirthankara temples on Shatrunjaya hill. This hill is considered one of the holiest Jain places, with hundreds of marble temples clustered there. Shantinath, the 16th Tirthankara, has a dedicated temple among these shrines, as part of the sacred Nav Tunk of Palitana and the broader Shatrunjaya temple complex. Jains visit Palitana to perform yatra (pilgrimage) and seek peace, non-violence, and spiritual upliftment associated with Shantinath’s teachings on inner calm and righteousness. The site is especially central to Śvetāmbara practice, though Digambara temples are also present in the area. You can read more here and here .
