Ichhāmi Khama-samano is a short Prakrit sutra recited when paying respect to a Tirthankar or to a Jain monk/nun.

• Meaning (arth): “I humbly seek forgiveness.” It expresses a sincere request to be pardoned for any wrongful thoughts, words, or deeds.

• How it is used: it is typically spoken while bowing in front of a Tirthankar’s image or a monk/nun, and the bow is made in a posture where the five body parts (two hands, two knees, and the forehead) touch the ground. This sutra is often called the Panchäng Pranipät Sutra because of that posture.

• Tradition note: The basic meaning and practice are the same in both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions, though minor recensions or renderings can vary by sect.
