In Jainism, eggs (fertilized or unfertilized) are not allowed.

Reason in simple words:

1. Ahimsā (non‑violence)

- An egg is considered life or potential life. - Eating it is seen as harming that life, so it goes against Jain vows of non‑violence.

1. Animal‑origin food is avoided

- Jain diet is strictly lacto‑vegetarian (no meat, fish, eggs). - Anything that comes from killing or disturbing animal reproduction is not accepted.

1. Both traditions agree

- Digambar and Shvetambar – both generally teach that Jains should not eat eggs, whether they are called “fertilized” or “unfertilized”.

So, according to Jain Dharma, Jains should not eat unfertilized eggs.
