SO NEW KEVALIN FOR THE NEXT 84000 YEARS

    9 months ago 144

In our present time‑cycle there will be no new Kevalin here in Bharat‑kshetra – not for the next 84,000 years, and actually much, much longer.

    Very simply:

    1. Time now (Kāl‑chakra)

    - We are in Avasarpini (the descending half‑cycle). - Within this, we are in the 5th āra – Duḥṣamā (Dusham Kāḷ). - In this 5th āra: - No new Tirthankar is born. - No new Kevalin arises in Bharat‑kshetra. - From Bharat‑kshetra, no soul attains moksha in this āra.

You can read a short explanation of the current kāl here

    1. About “next 84,000 years”

    - Some pravachans loosely say: “For the next 84,000 years there will be no Kevalin,” just to show a very long period with no new Kevalin here. - Traditional Jain scriptures actually speak in terms of āras (eras), not this exact “84,000 years” figure. - According to the standard Jain view, this “no‑Kevalin in Bharat” condition is not only for 84,000 years, but for the whole remaining 5th and the entire 6th āra – an astronomically long time.

    1. Where can Kevalin exist now?

    - Even though Bharat‑kshetra (our world‑region) has no new Kevalin now, - In Mahāvideh‑kshetra, there are present Tirthankars and Kevalins even today, and souls there can still attain Keval‑jñān and moksha.

    1. Digambar–Śvetāmbara view

    - Both traditions agree on these main points: - We are in 5th āra of Avasarpini. - In this āra no new Tirthankar or Kevalin arises in Bharat‑kshetra. - Liberation from Bharat‑kshetra is not attained in this era; it continues from Mahāvideh‑kshetra. - They differ only in some detailed historical dating, not in this principle.

So, according to Jain Dharma: For the remaining part of this era (and far beyond 84,000 years), no new Kevalin will arise in Bharat‑kshetra. Keval‑jñān is still being attained in Mahāvideh‑kshetra, and eternally in the universe, souls keep becoming Siddha.
