“Any sadhu entering the city must come in a palki (palanquin). Otherwise, entry is not allowed.”

• For Jain sadhus, sitting in a palki (being carried by others) is against:

- Aparigraha (non‑possessiveness, no luxury) - Vinay (humility) - Simple walking life of a monk

• The king’s people insisted that Jinchandra Suri must sit in the palki to enter the city.

Jinchandra Suri was in trouble – - If he refused, no entry, and dharma‑pravachan would stop. - If he agreed, it looked against monk‑discipline.

• Then Guru Jindatt Suri took a very deep, humble decision:

He himself lifted the palki of his own disciple Jinchandra Suri and walked with it.
