    Who is simandhar swami ji

    8 months ago 156

Simandhar Swami (Shri Simandhar Swamiji) is a living Tirthankar (Arihant) according to Jain Dharma.

    In very simple words:

    • Our world (Bharat Kshetra) right now has no living Tirthankar.
    • But in another Jain region of the universe called Mahavideh Kshetra, Tirthankars are always present.
    • Shri Simandhar Swami is one of those Tirthankars, currently living and giving deshna (discourses) there.

Who is he in Jain terms?

    • He is a Tirthankar – a fully enlightened soul who has:
    - destroyed all ghati karmas, - attained keval-jnan (infinite knowledge), - and is teaching the path of moksha.
    • He is considered the closest living Tirthankar to us (from our Bharat Kshetra), in terms of cosmic location.

    Importance in Jain practice

    • Remembering and worshipping a living Tirthankar like Simandhar Swami:
    - strengthens samyak darshan (right faith), - supports ahimsa, aparigraha, brahmacharya, satya in daily life, - creates karmic causes to take birth in Mahavideh Kshetra and one day listen to his direct deshna and attain liberation.

    Digambar & Shwetambar view (simple)

    • Both traditions accept Mahavideh Kshetra and the presence of living Tirthankars there.
    • Shwetambar:
    - Very explicit and active devotion to Shri Simandhar Swami – temples, stavans, daily prayers, etc.
    • Digambar:
    - Cosmology (Mahavideh + living Tirthankars) is accepted, - but special personal bhakti to Simandhar Swami by name is generally less emphasized; focus is more on Arihants and Siddhas overall.
