Savi jeev karu shasan rasi means what? Explain in detail in English

    8 months ago 175

“Savi jeev karu shasan rasi” is a line from a Jain stavan (devotional song). It is in Gujarati/Prakrit‑influenced language.

    Word‑by‑word:

    • Savi jeev = all living beings / all souls
    • karu = I will make / I will do / I will cause
    • shasan = the Jain śāsan – the religion and spiritual order of the Tirthankara
    • rasi = full of “rasa” – taste, joy, love, attraction

    So a simple meaning:

    > “May I make all souls delighted in (immersed in) the Jain śāsan.” > or > “I want that all living beings develop love and joy for your Jain śāsan.”

    Deeper devotional sense

In the full stavan (where this line appears), the devotee is saying roughly:

    • “My wish is that I always remain absorbed in your śāsan and follow your teachings.”
    • “If I get the strength, I will spread the joy of your śāsan to all beings.”
    • “Through your śāsan alone countless souls have been and will be liberated.”

So “Savi jeev karu shasan rasi” expresses:

    1. Universal goodwill – not just my own salvation, but wishing spiritual uplift for all jivas.
    2. Love for Jain dharma – seeing the Tirthankara’s śāsan as the true path to end suffering and attain liberation.
    3. A personal vow – “I want to live in such a way that, through my life, speech and conduct, others also taste and enjoy the true dharma.”

There is no major Digambar–Shvetambar difference in the basic meaning of this line; it is a bhakti expression common in Jain devotional tradition.
