Here is the Navkar (Namokar) Mantra with simple, line‑by‑line meaning:

Original Prakrit text 1) णमो अरिहंताणं। 2) णमो सिद्धाणं। 3) णमो आयरियाणं। 4) णमो उवज्झायाणं। 5) णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं।

Often with the mangal gāthā: 6) एसो पंच णमोक्कारो, सव्व पावप्पणासणो। 7) मंगला णं च सव्वेसिं, पढ़मं हवई मंगलं॥

Line‑by‑line meaning (arth)

1) णमो अरिहंताणं (Namo Arihantāṇam) – I bow to the Arihants: living perfectly awakened beings who have destroyed inner enemies (krodh, mān, māyā, lobh) and show the true path.

2) णमो सिद्धाणं (Namo Siddhāṇam) – I bow to the Siddhas: completely liberated souls, free from all karma and from birth and death, residing in eternal bliss.

3) णमो आयरियाणं (Namo Āyariyāṇam) – I bow to the Āchāryas: heads of the Jain monastic order, who protect and guide the discipline (charitra) of the sangh.

4) णमो उवज्झायाणं (Namo Uvajjhāyāṇam) – I bow to the Upādhyāyas: spiritual teachers who explain the scriptures and help others understand tattvas (Jain principles).

5) णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं (Namo Loe Savva Sāhūṇam) – I bow to all Sādhus and Sādhvīs in the whole universe: all monks and nuns who practice the vows and walk the path of self‑purification.

6) एसो पंच णमोक्कारो, सव्व पावप्पणासणो (Eso pañcha namokkāro, savva pāvappaṇāsano) – This five‑fold bowing (to these five) destroys all sinful karmas.

7) मंगला णं च सव्वेसिं, पढ़मं हवई मंगलं (Maṅgalāṇaṁ cha savvesiṁ, paḍhamaṁ havai maṅgalaṁ) – And among all auspicious things, this is the very first and highest auspiciousness.

Notes about traditions (Digambar / Shwetambar)

• Both Digambar and Shwetambar accept these five main lines as the Navkar Mantra; the meaning is the same.
• Differences are only in pronunciation/spelling (e.g. Āyariyāṇam / Acharyanam, Uvajjhāyāṇam / Upadhyayanam, Loe / Logo).
• The closing mangal gāthā (Eso pañcha namokkāro…) is commonly recited especially in Śvetāmbara practice; many Digambar Jains also accept the same sense even if only the five main lines are recited.

Essence in very simple words: In Navkar Mantra we respect the five highest types of souls. We do not ask for anything; we only bow to their pure qualities. By remembering them with faith, our own soul slowly becomes pure and moves towards moksha.
