Who is Supreme power according to jainism ?

    6 months ago 154

According to Jainism, there is no single “supreme power” or creator God who made and controls the universe.

    Key points in simple words:

    1. Universe has no creator

    - Jain Dharma says the universe is beginningless and endless. - It runs on its own natural laws (dravya, karma, etc.), not by the will of a supreme controller.

    1. Who is highest / supreme in Jainism?

    - The highest state is the state of a Siddha – a soul that has completely destroyed all karmas and attained moksha (liberation). - Siddhas are called Paramatma, Parmeshthi, Bhagwan in the sense of perfect, liberated soul, not as a creator or ruler.

    1. Navkar Mantra shows who is spiritually supreme

In the Navkar Mantra, Jains bow to: - Arihant (omniscient beings with body) - Siddha (liberated souls) - Acharya - Upadhyaya - Sadhus This shows that supreme respect is for pure, perfected souls and the path they show, not for a cosmic boss who runs everything.

    1. Devas (gods) are not supreme power

    - Jain texts do accept many devas, yakshas, etc., but they are also ordinary souls with karma, enjoying temporary heavenly lives. - They are not creators, not all‑powerful, not final refuge.

    1. Different sects (Digambar / Shvetambar)

    - Both agree: - No creator God. - Highest ideal is the liberated, omniscient soul (Arihant/Siddha). - Some Shvetambar writings may use words like Īshvar / Paramatma, but still meaning a perfected soul, not a creator who made the universe.

    So, in Jainism:

    • No “supreme power” as a creator and controller of everything.
    • The truly supreme state is Kevali/Siddha – a soul completely pure, beyond birth and death.
    • Our goal is to become that, by Right Faith, Right Knowledge, and Right Conduct.
