In Jainism, “Porsi / Poorshi / Porshi” (पोरसी / पोर्शी) is a time-related word, not a deity or mantra.

Very simple meaning:

• It refers to a fixed time after sunrise used to decide when food can be taken.
• In common Jain maryādā:

- Porsi ≈ about 3 hours after sunrise (e.g. sunrise 6:00 am → porsi around 9:00 am)

• Many Jains take their single meal (ekāsan / āyambil, etc.) at porsi time, especially during Paryushan / Daslakshan.
• The idea is:

- eat in daytime only - at a disciplined, late-morning time - with restraint and awareness, reducing violence to tiny beings more active at night.

So, “poorshi karũ chu” usually means: “I take my meal at porsi time (about three hours after sunrise).”
