    Pani no kaal Today

    5 months ago 144

“Pāṇī no kāl” (પાણીનો કાળ) means the time‑limit related to drinking water in Jain maryādā, mainly:

    1. Day–night rule (Chauvihār)

    - Water is to be taken only in daytime – after sunrise and before sunset. - From sunset till next sunrise, no water is taken (for one who observes chauvihār properly).

    1. Boiled water time (Ukalelā pāṇī no kāl)

    - Water is boiled and filtered to reduce hiṁsā of water‑bodied jīvas. - That boiled water is valid only for a limited time (“kāl”). - Many maryādās follow approx: - 24 hours during Cāturmās / Paryushan - 48 hours in the rest of the year - After that time is over, that water should not be used; fresh boiled water is prepared.

    1. “Pāṇī no kāl today”

    - The exact clock time today depends on: - Your city (sunrise/sunset timing) - Your sampradāy / guru‑maryādā (some keep 48 minutes before sunset as cut‑off, some at exact sunset). - For accurate today’s timing you should follow: - Your local Jain panchāng / tithi book / calendar app, or - The announcement of your local Jain Saṅgh / guru.

In simple practice for most śrāvaks:

    • Drink only boiled, filtered water in the daytime.
    • Stop water by sunset (or a little before it) and resume only after sunrise, according to your tradition.
