Prayer to get pregnant
In Jain Dharma, there is no special “magic” mantra only for pregnancy. But our scriptures teach that with shuddh bhav (pure feelings), Navkar Mantra and other Jain stotras can help in calming the mind, increasing punya, and creating good conditions for a new jīva (soul) to take birth.
Below is a simple Jain way to pray for pregnancy.
---
1. Main Mantra to Recite: Navkar Mantra
You can do this daily:
ॐ नमः अरिहंताणं ॐ नमः सिद्धाणं ॐ नमः आयरियाणं ॐ नमः उवज्झायाणं ॐ नमः लोए सव्व साधूणं एसो पंच णमोक्कारो, सव्व पावप्पणासणो मंगलाणं च सव्वेसिं, पडमं हवई मंगलं॥
Meaning in simple words: “I bow to Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas and all Sadhus in the world. These five bowings destroy all sins and are the first and highest of all auspicious things.”
How to do:
- Sit calmly, back straight.
- Recite Navkar Mantra 108 times (or as much as you can) every day.
- At the end, pray in your own words (see section 3).
---
2. Bhaktamar or Other Stotras
Many Jains also:
- Recite Bhaktamar Stotra (even a few gāthās daily).
- Or listen to Jain stotras with devotion.
The main idea is: Not “I must get a child at any cost,” But “May my karmas become light, may a good, virtuous soul come if it is right according to my karma.”
---
3. Simple Jain Prayer (in Easy English)
After Navkar Mantra, you may fold your hands and say (you can adjust words as you like):
“Hey Arihant Parmatma, I bow to You with pure heart. Please destroy my pap (bad karmas) and increase my punya (good karmas). If it is according to my karma, please bless me with a healthy, virtuous child who walks on the path of ahimsa, satya and Jain Dharma. Give me strength to remain peaceful, truthful and non‑violent in thoughts, words and actions. Micchāmi Dukkaḍaṁ.”
You can also say a similar short prayer in your own language.

4. Important Jain View to Remember
From Jain Dharam point of view:
- Child or no child is the result of past karmas.
- Prayer and good conduct help in:
- Pregnancy is also a physical/medical matter, so Jain Acharyas never say “only pray and do nothing else.”

5. Daily Practical Tips in Jain Way
While trying to conceive:
- Ahimsa in Diet:
- Avoid meat, eggs, alcohol. - Try to follow a pure vegetarian/Jain diet as much as possible.
- Calm Mind:
- Avoid anger, stress, heavy quarrels at home. - Do few minutes of samayik or silent sitting daily.
