If one has daily white water discharge can he or she perform pooja ?
In Jain Dharma, the main principle for pooja is śuddhi (cleanliness of body, clothes, place, and mind), not whether a particular discharge exists or not.
1. Is daily white discharge itself a sin or a barrier to pooja?
- No. Simple white discharge (which many women have daily) is not a sin and not, by itself, a spiritual disqualification.
- Jainism looks more at:
Daily white discharge is usually a health/medical issue, not a dharmic fault.
2. Practically, what should be done for pooja?
Use this simple approach:
- Before starting pooja
- Take normal bath (or at least wash private parts well). - Wear clean, unsoiled clothes. - Make sure there is no fresh discharge wetting or soiling the clothes at that time.
- If discharge happens or is noticed during pooja
- If it actually soils clothes or leaks: - Quietly pause pooja. - Clean yourself properly. - If possible, change into clean clothes. - Then, after regaining cleanliness, you may resume pooja with Navkār Mantra and calm bhāv. - If it is very mild, old, or only a feeling and nothing has actually soiled: - You may continue pooja, keeping mind steady. - Later, after pooja, clean properly and change if needed.
This is in line with the guidance: if white discharge comes during pooja, pause, regain shuddhi (cleanliness), and then continue calmly.
3. Digambar / Shvetāmbār view
Both traditions emphasize the same basics:- External shuddhi – body and clothes should be clean, not visibly soiled.
- Internal shuddhi – no feelings of guilt or aversion toward your own body, only humility and pure devotion.
- Any detailed rules (like very strict home rules) are usually family or local maryādā, not direct Āgamic commands.
4. Health side (important)
- Daily white discharge can be normal, but if it is:
---
Summary: Yes, one who has daily white discharge can do pooja, as long as at the time of pooja:
- Body is washed,
- Clothes are clean and not freshly soiled,
- Place and items are clean,
- Mind is in pure, peaceful bhāv.
If any discharge actually soils you during pooja, simply pause, clean and change, and then resume with Navkār Mantra.
