What you reply of someone say satama cho
“Satamā cho?” is a casual Gujarati way Jains ask, “Are you keeping the Satam fast today?” (the 7th lunar day).
Simple, polite replies:
- If fasting:
- If not fasting:
Sometimes people also say “Satamā cho?” jokingly about the 7th guṇasthān. The true 7th guṇasthān (Apramatta-samyata) is a very high monk-level state of non‑negligence. As laypeople we should reply with humility, e.g.:
- “Apramatta rahvāno prayatna karīe. Jai Jinendra.”
