These lines are from the Śvetāmbara Pratikramaṇ, in the Suguru Vandana (respectful salutation to the Guru). They are short Ardhamāgadhī-Prākrit questions spoken with deep humility.

• “Aho kāyaṃ kāya-samphāsaṃ, khamaṇijjo bhe! Kilāmo? Appa‑kilantāṇaṃ bahu‑subheṇa bhe! Divaso vaikkanto?”

Meaning in simple words: “O Revered Guru, kindly allow me to touch your holy feet; please forgive any inconvenience. Are you tired? May you have very little fatigue. Has your day passed well and auspiciously?” ( jainqq.org)

• “Jattā bhe?”

Meaning: “Is your spiritual journey of self‑restraint going well?” (This is called yātrā‑pucchā—an enquiry about the Guru’s ongoing ascetic conduct.) ( jainqq.org)

• “Javani jjam ca bhe?”

Meaning: “And are your senses and passions kept restrained and steady?” (This is called yāpana‑pucchā—an enquiry about inner control/discipline.) ( jainqq.org)

Practice note

• These lines belong to the Śvetāmbara Vandana sequence. In the Digambara tradition, the spirit of respectfully enquiring about the Guru’s well‑being and conduct remains, but the wording and order of sutras differ; the exact “Aho kāyaṃ…” and “Jattā bhe?
