Adinath (Rishabhanatha) is said to be born in Ayodhya (Vinita) on the ninth day of the dark half of the month of Chaitra, i.e., Chaitra Krishna Navami. This marks the auspicious signs seen by his mother Marudevi and his birth as the first Tirthankar. There are slight differences between Digambar and Shvetambar traditions on some details, but the core belief is that he was born in Ayodhya on Chaitra Krishna Navami.
