When did adinath live
Adinath (Rishabhanatha) is considered the first Tirthankar in Jainism. Traditional Jain accounts say he lived millions of years ago, in a very ancient, prehistorical time. There is no fixed historical date in AD/CE for his life. Different Jain traditions (Digambar and Śvetambar) tell the same essential idea—that he lived in the distant past and taught the path to liberation.
Key point to remember:
- He is said to have ruled in early Ikshvaku times, renounced the world, attained kevala jnana, and later moksha at Mount Ashtapada.
