Term.me about Rajul mata
Rajul Mata (also called Rajul/Rājul/Rājulā Devi) is the wife of the 22nd Tirthankara Neminātha (Nemi) in Jain tradition. She is famous for her virtue and renunciation, and her story is one of the well-known satīs (ideal renunciant wives) in Jain texts. After Nemi chooses to renounce the world on the day of their wedding, Rajul Mata also renounces worldly life and becomes a nun in many tellings. The details differ between Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions, but both acknowledge her importance as a model of faithfulness, chastity, and spiritual aspiration. In Śvetāmbara accounts she and Nemi attain liberation on the same day, while in some Digambara versions she is renown as a satī and is remembered for her piety rather than joining Nemi in the same final fate.
