Mahavira is traditionally said to have observed 30 Chaturmas after taking Diksha. This total is often divided across different places in his roaming years, with counts given as:

• 1 Chaturmas at Asthika
• 3 at Champa and Prishti Champa
• 12 at Vaishali or Vanijyagram
• 14 at Rajgriha or Nalanda

Note: different Jain traditions (Digambara vs. Śvetāmbara) sometimes give slightly different localalisations of these Chaturmas, but the overall count of 30 is commonly cited in Jain tradition.
