The shopkeeper realized the coins belonged to someone who needed them more than he did.
That evening, the shopkeeper returned the purse to the laborer, telling him gently, “I found this and kept it safe until you came.” The laborer’s eyes filled with tears, not just for the lost money, but for the trust restored between them. The town learned that spoken truth, when paired with honest actions, builds a community where people believe in one another.
