The first Vasudeva in Jainism is Tripṛṣṭa (Triprishta). He is listed as the very first Vasudeva in the sequence of nine Vasudevas that appear in every half-cycle. According to Jain texts, Tripṛṣṭa is described as the son of Prajāpati and Mṛgāvatī.

• Important point: Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions agree on the existence and order of the nine Vasudevas; Tripṛṣṭa is the inaugural Vasudeva in the current time-cycle.
