Can i write navkar mantra during periods
Yes. In Jain practice, Navkar Mantra can be written or recited during periods, but with mindful rules.
- Prefer mental bhakti (manasīk japa) and inner namaskar when you are in the period. You may bow and recite from outside the sanctum, without touching idols or temple articles.
- Do not perform dravya-pūjā (external rituals like abhishek, aarti, or touching idols) during the period.
- After bath and snān-shuddhi, you may resume normal temple activities.
These guidelines focus on humility, purity of intention, and safety of ritual conduct during menstruation, with variations in local maryādā (Digambar and Śvetāmbar communities may differ slightly by sangh, so follow your guru’s guidance and local temple rules).
