where does the soul go after moksha

    8 months ago 246

In Jainism, when a soul attains moksha:

    1. The soul becomes a Siddha

    - All karmas are completely destroyed. - There is no more birth, death, pleasure, pain, body, or senses. - The soul remains forever in its own pure nature.

    1. Where does it “go”? – Siddhashila / Siddha‑loka

    - The liberated soul rises to Siddhashila (also called Siddha‑loka). - This is the topmost, pure region at the apex of the Jain universe (loka), above all heavens. ( jainknowledge.com) - It is not a place any physical being can travel to; only a completely karma‑free soul reaches there.

    1. State of the soul there

In Siddhashila, each liberated soul: - Has infinite knowledge (anant jnān) - Infinite perception (anant darshan) - Infinite bliss (anant sukh) - Infinite energy (anant vīrya) ( jainknowledge.com) - Has no body, no movement, no activity, no desires. - Never comes back into the cycle of birth and death.

    1. Does the soul merge or stay separate?

    - Each Siddha is eternally separate and individual, staying in its own space‑point in Siddhashila. - Souls do not merge into one; they are countless, but all are equal, pure, and formless. ( jainknowledge.com)

    1. Digambar and Shvetambar view

    - Both traditions agree on this: - Moksha = complete freedom from karma and rebirth. - The liberated soul goes to Siddhashila at the top of the universe and remains there forever as a Siddha. ( jainknowledge.com) - Differences are only in some detailed descriptions and diagrams, not in this core idea.

In simple words: After moksha, the soul rises to Siddhashila at the top of the universe and stays there forever as a pure, bodiless, all-knowing, ever-blissful Siddha, never to return.
