Mahāvideh Kṣetra is a very special spiritual land described in Jain cosmology.

In simple words:

1. Where is Mahāvideh Kṣetra?

- It is a group of regions in Jambūdvīpa (the central continent of the middle world – madhya loka). - There are five Mahāvideh Kṣetras in all (spread in different directions of Jambūdvīpa).

1. Why is it special?

- It is always in a spiritually favorable time-period (4th ara – duḥṣamā‑sukhamā). - Tirthankars are always present there, giving sermons (deshnā) and running the four-fold sangh (sādhu, sādhvī, śrāvaka, śrāvikā). - So, dharma is always alive and active there in a very pure form.

1. Relation with our world (Bhārat Kṣetra)

- We live in Bhārat Kṣetra, also a part of Jambūdvīpa. - Right now, Bhārat is in 5th ara, a very difficult spiritual time: - No new Tirthankars will be born now here. - Moksha from here in this period is practically impossible for ordinary souls. - In Mahāvideh, conditions are much better; many souls progress very fast spiritually.

1. Can we go there from here?

- According to Jain scriptures, no physical travel is possible from Bhārat Kṣetra to Mahāvideh Kṣetra. - One can be there only by taking birth there due to proper karmas. - So our aim should be: purify karma, so that in future births we can get janma in Mahāvideh Kṣetra and directly listen to living Tirthankars, or progress all the way to moksha.

1. Do siddhas (liberated souls) live there?

- No. - Siddhas only reside on Siddhaśilā, at the very top of the universe. - Mahāvideh is a karmabhūmi – a land of effort, where one practices and completes the path. After complete destruction of karmas, the soul leaves Mahāvideh (or any karmabhūmi) and goes up to Siddhaśilā.
